Keeping your ball in the air

(Morning update: there’s the photo.)

I haven’t done that in a long time: I was a third of the way through a cowl when I realized it had gone mobius on me–a good reminder that it’s not mindless knitting till you get past the first connecting stitch of that first row, and then again at that point on the second row just to be sure. After that you’re good.

Somehow I got through all these years of knitting without realizing that when you frog a mobius strip with that many rows, you can’t just put it down and pull–because if you do you will be suddenly tying a tight near-knot around some random spot on the circulars again and again. You have to take the ball of yarn through the center of the knitting as you go. Because of course you do.

Hey, who doesn’t want to practice juggling?

There’s a photo in the ether but it hasn’t landed yet.

The “slurpper” that I pick up your blog on has not picked you up in three days. Hummmmm. Where is she? Oh. She’s unraveling a twisted cowl.

Gotcha

I mean. Not really. But I’m going to pretend it’s that.

Oopsie! It’s been a while, but I’ve done that, too. Picking it up, shoving it in a bag, distracted during those first key join points. I’m guessing you’re back to where you were and progressing.

Reminds me of the time years ago when I was taking a sock class and the instructor said, If you realize on the second round that you twisted it on the first round, you can rotate it around and go on, and there will only be a slight twist. Half the class nodded and the other half said WHAT? You CAN?
