Making myself knit so many baby afghan rows before each time I go re-check the election returns, watching these early ones in horror. Do people even remember what a President is? How could anyone, anyone vote for a felon convicted of dozens of counts of financial fraud, a man found by the court to be a rapist? The guy who crowed over overturning Roe and then casually mentioned in the past week that he tried to get his second wife to abort? The resulting daughter was out campaigning for him.

The lies, the cruelty. The violent insurrection, fer cryin’ out loud??

Why, why, why?

It beggars belief. There is still hope, but it does seem to be fading now that all polls are closed.

I am concerned about all those who surround him, and the chaos and retribution that will follow, should he actually win.

I am mystified. I just don’t understand. Although I had read that many just don’t believe he’d “really do” anything he’s threatened. Trying hard to be hopeful.

I sat there this morning saying, how? How is this possible? I can’t comprehend.

I don’t know, friend. I don’t know. I don’t understand how so many women voted for this man. I can only think that a lot of Americans, women included, hate women.

You are such a kind soul and I can only imagine how much pain this is causing you. Hugs. I hope the US can withstand the next four years.

I can only think of the old saying that the Devil takes care of his own. Heaven help us.

It’s a very scary time indeed.
I worry about the young people, especially young women.
But also about those who will lose hard-won health insurance and suffer from even higher prices in future.
is this election outcome due to voters with a lack of analytical ability due to poor education, combined with stress from poor work conditions and poor health; or is the majority of the population really so racist, misogynist and xenophobic?
The US election affects the rest of the world.
Canada is not exempt from these themes. The next government of Canada may also be extremely conservative and their policies will have a big negative impact on quality of daily life. Not sure what to do about it, but I don’t think I should just stay home and knit.
Stakes are too high.

I am just hoping that we will survive the next two years. Unfortunately, I understand how we got here 1) Pandemic. Blame the current administration – never mind it was the previous one that ….. 2) prices are up every where – many people just don’t understand that food/gas pump prices are a result of a free market economy… and the supply chains are still a mess… 3) when taxes go up on the lower half and those “buddies” pay none, just when all the benefits are cut back… 4) you can fight prejudice from the outside and hope for winning, or your can pick candidates that can win, and fight things from the inside.

And I am knitting, spinning, stitching, sewing, stitching and maybe even cleaning and keeping off radio, TV, papers etc for at least the next month….
