Not just roots joining into the bases of the trees: gotta have a redwood in the forest that’s partly hollowed at the bottom by a fire ages ago–creating room to climb up in there and even to sit down in the cool of its trunk. One looks up and marvels at the immensity.

Little by little, it’s getting there. Don’t tell the recipients it looks in this shot like the trees have a frilly skirt–they might have a boy.

(P.S. It hit 103F today. I am exceedingly grateful for air conditioning. I certainly wouldn’t have touched this if we didn’t have that.)

Eek … 103? And we’ve been upset with 90+

We have a heat pump instead of A/C. It has its limitations, especially when combined with skylights. (It also doesn’t work well below 35f, so we have a back-up furnace ) The one benefit is it costs less to run than traditional A/C.

Whew, yes, I’m glad for you that you have AC!

Oh my! That is so very picturesque! Simple beautiful. It was 115° here yesterday, and expected again today. I kept the A/C carefully at 80°, to give us some respite. We spent the weekend, digging the pier holes for the foundation of my studio. Finally got building permit and my brother and 2 nephews are coming to build for me in 2.5 weeks so we have to get the piers done no matter the heat. It’ll be worth it.

So far, no outages here. I am happy to see my old favorite f&f pattern at the bottom.
