Okay, for those of you who live in hurricane country, which I have not for a very long time now: do you ever feel the wind go right through the house?

Because there were no air vents to the right of me and nobody was walking around, but in today’s strong wind storm, there was this one big gust where I not only heard it, I felt it coming through. Not hard, but cold like outside and very startling because that has never happened here.

Edited to add, okay, today’s post isn’t about the weather after all. We just got a series of messages from one of our kids. (type type type. Delete.)

I’ll let them process their own story before I barge in, on second thought.

ERs are mostly about waiting. Which is good, when you get to have to.

Hope everything’s okay!

As to the wind, I haven’t been here during a hurricane, but we do hear the gusts on especially windy days, whistling through the front door (which definitely isn’t as well sealed as it should be. It’s startling.

Wind? ER? Waiting? I’m not very good at guessing games. Hoping all is well.

Sending all positive thoughts to you and yours, hoping all is OK after the ER. Never lived in hurricane country, but the access to our crawl space under the house is in the closet of my studio/ office. Even with boxes of fabric and yarn on top of that trap door, and a draft dodger across the closed closet door, I still sometimes feel a breeze at my ankles.

OK, your ER comments got me worried. Do tell when you can, if it’s yours to tell. As for wind, YES. Not hurricanes, just average prairie winds. There are days when the gusts whistle right through our house and feel chilly indoors, despite 110 year old walls, insulation, plaster and dry wall, everything. We stuff a towel under the door to our front vestibule…breeze happens. This is why we wear wool sweaters.
