Growing inside for now with the others, critter-free. Who knew birds eat cotyledons?
This is a butternut or a zucchini–we’ll find out which are which soon enough. It is amazing how such a little plant can be such a total thrill. Look! A new leaf today! New promises to look forward to!
New food fights with squirrels!

One of my high school teachers had started a garden. I asked him what he was growing and he relplied,”you tell me”. Even though the plants had only a couple of leaves, I was able to identify all but one of the rows. My dad had a vegetable garden, so that helped!
