The first peach of the season–there, right above the ladder as the camera aims. Then I looked closer and there were several more, like under that leaf to its right, which somehow only shows up if you click on the photo. I’ll see how they grow the first little bit and then thin them down to just one or two. I type that hoping the little tree can really do it in its second year. Squirrel-busting clamshells here we come!

Finished the Water Turtles-riff shawl I was working on, grateful I’d gotten that second Silkpaca skein yesterday–I did need it.  I was knitting it alongside a larger skein of the same 70/30 baby alpaca/silk blend from Alpenglow. To quote Kathryn at Cottage Yarns when she saw the two together, “Oh, that’s gorgeous!”

Okay, after ditching mid-row a vest I was wearing for one with buttons, I have a random question to throw out there: am I the only one? Or do you avoid wearing jackets or sweaters with zippers down the front while you knit so that you don’t catch the yarn on the teeth?

I hadn’t thought about the zipper situation. I guess I don’t have any garments with zippers down the front that I would wear while knitting. But it makes sense to avoid them if they pose a snagging hazard.

Nope. Never had that problem, but then I rarely use lace-weight yarn. Do you have the same problem when you make ww Malabrigo hats/sweaters? For many years I’ve lived in a an collection of LLBean fleece jackets with nylon zippers from October through April (at least). I just checked — zipped up to about the top of my bra — over an undershirt and turtleneck T. (TMI, I know 😉 It’s 10 degrees F out as I write, clear blue sky, bright sun reflecting on the snow making it sunglasses-weather. Your photos of outdoor greenery make me sooo envious!

No zippers, ever. Can never get them started right. I stay away from Velcro, too!

Abby is sure right about staying away from velcro, no matter what weight the yarn!

I haven’t knitted with laceweight yarn so no problem.

But on thinking – being of short stature and if I sit, the vest bumps up in front of me, pooling around the waist region, so the zip gets undone for that reason.
