Watched Olympics at Michelle’s tonight till late.
And somehow in the course of the evening discovered that my Iphone 4s had
zero
as in 0
contacts.
Nada. Everybody has packed up and gone home. No idea why. Every address, every phone number, every email addy, poof. I’m hoping we can recover the info at Verizon on Monday but we won’t know till then. Has anyone else ever had this happen?
And–and this is definitely not being typed in order of importance but it’s late and I’m too tired to edit… My mom’s big brother, my Uncle David passed away yesterday, and the mathematician in him I imagine would have loved the 02142014 of the date as he slipped quietly into the beyond, well loved.

Condolences on the passing of your Uncle Dave.
I’d be flipping out if all my contacts were lost. I don’t have some of those numbers written down anywhere but in my phone! Maybe I better remedy that soon!
Comment by Jody 02.16.14 @ 5:57 amMy sympathies on the loss of your Uncle Dave. Mine is a gem…
I hope your IT man is able to work some magic and restore those contacts.
Comment by Channon 02.16.14 @ 8:11 amI had many uncles and I miss all of them.
Comment by Afton 02.16.14 @ 9:41 amsorry to hear about your uncle — the date numbers are a very interesting thing
I too would be freaking out if my phone lost all of it’s information — YIKES!!! — hope the Verizon folks can help you with that (and I’d like to hear if they do or not as they are my carrier too)
Comment by Bev 02.16.14 @ 11:01 amSo sorry about your loss.
As for your contacts…yikes! If memory serves, Verizon used to offer a cloud service for your contacts, but you used to have to do something to activate that. Do you recall doing that? Of course it “could” be an automatic thing these days. It’s been years since I used it.
When you got your iPhone did you set it up through iTunes on your computer? If so you probably set it to back-up to your computer too.
I seem to recall that you guys have an iPad? If so, were the two devices set to sync contacts maybe?
I can’t even imagine why that would have happened! If/when you get your contacts restored…back-up…back-up…back-up!!!
Comment by Jayleen Hatmaker 02.16.14 @ 12:26 pmI’m very sorry to hear about your Uncle (although I’m glad he got to go out in style.) At least you have perfect confidence that you will see your uncle again some day, which is more than can be said for your contact list.
Comment by LauraN 02.16.14 @ 7:16 pmHave to laugh, he was never, never in all his life–‘Dave.’ Ever. He was gentle, very very tall, soft-spoken, and generous. We will miss him.
