My friend Robin, a fellow knitter, flew in from my hometown and I got to spend part of today with her. We tried to figure out how long it had been; must have been three years now, way too long. We were catching up, we had no particular agenda–till she said she’d realized she’d packed no chocolate.

I had her sample some of mine: Valrhona 71%, some Endangered Species dark with hazelnut toffee, and then we were off to the local Whole Foods, which has more choices than anywhere.

She passed on the Vosges chocolate/bacon bar. So far.

She went to her brother’s after that (I don’t get to keep her all the time) and I to KnitNight.

Where I got six carefully-knitted rows of lace done at Purlescence. Qiviut is like the finest cup of hot chocolate: you savor it slowly, a sipped stitch at a time.

My son gave me one of those bacon/chocolate bars for Christmas. The salty-sweet thing was pretty good, but the aftertaste was odd. I prefer my chocolate straight up, though nuts or toffee are OK!

Bacon in my chocolate? Don’t think so. But I’m back to not being able to eat bacon again… long story, all in my head, not a health problem…

I’ll have that bacon as a side to the chocolate very much — and yes, I want dark chocolate!

sipping is good — are we allowed to “slurp”?

One sip at a time, as we transition from project to process. Don’t want to get done quickly, savor this.

Didn’t pack any chocolate!?

Thank you, I’ll pass on the bacon/chocolate. I like them both, but not at the same time.

Was that a sipped stitch, or a slipped stitch? Either way, sounds wonderful.

I got to see Alison and the qiviut. Each was wonderful. Thanks, Alison!

Nope, I didn’t pack any chocolate. An oversight on my part. I didn’t realize how much I’d miss it until I got here. I missed it a lot.

My brother is moving to Alaska… I asked him to pluck a musk ox for me. You should have seen the look on his face! (He’s a hunter type)
