Better watch that stuff

When you live in Silicon Valley and Christmas is coming and you’re surrounded by geeks, even I the shawl-knitting house elf think this is just really really cool.  I mentioned it to my husband and he said that in Europe they sell Android watches already that link to your phone so you can read your incoming text messages, etc etc, on your wrist. Like this will do for Apple’s product that I always thought was too hopelessly small not to lose. Well then.

Dick Tracy, your future called and left you a text saying it has arrived at the station. Where it’s okay to let some little old lady take your seat on the subway while you stand and hold onto the overhead strap–so you can secretly listen to your music and messages with your arm up near your ears.

(I don’t even own a Nano and neither does the husband, but if they ever start making one that you can link to a knitting needle to create a gorgeous high-whorl spindle on demand with a holding case for the fiber to be compressed into the watch, then I want the first one.)

Right there with you on the “too hopelessly small not to lose”, although with the increasing order chez Ravelled, perhaps a mite easier to find, once lost…

The shawl-knitting house elf? Is that your official title these days? Good luck getting that spindle app, Pixie.

Did you notice the other super cool thing in that article? The $540,000 start up fund was raised $25 at a time, from individuals! It challenges the idea that only rich people have ability to invest in new businesses. That could change a lot of things.

I too love that small donations led to the start-up fund. Makes a good story even better!

House elf — yeah! That wrist watch nano really is cool. My little Shuffle would fit there, but wouldn’t tell the time.

A couple of weeks ago I read about the impending doom of the wrist watch. Young people use their cell phones to know the time, so they don’t wear wrist watches. So now maybe we’ll see the return of the wrist watch–and perhaps the pocket watch chain attached to people’s cell phones so they don’t get lost.

Very interesting post. I love tech gadgets. I just purchased a Nook Color e-reader and love, love, love it.

I have a watch from that connects to my cell phone and vibrates when a call comes and shows the phone number of the caller. It’s a beast size wise, but this hard of hearing chickie rarely misses a phone call with it now.
