That red amaryllis yesterday? That photo was taken right before I cut it. The young mom and her family across the street are about to move home to Ireland, and it seemed to me that a large, bright flower to help cheer them while they pack and get ready and that won’t take up any suitcase space seemed just the thing.
Meantime, these will offer a wave hi at them from our side of the street.
Happy Easter!
(Ed. to add, in the proper tradition of the season, we can’t forget the Peeps, with apologies for the ad at the beginning. #30, of the Metro subway in DC, is my personal favorite.)

Happy Easter! What a nice gesture to bring your neighbor your amaryllis!
Comment by Joansie 04.12.09 @ 5:28 pmI went to the Peeps link…how adorable! You know what? I don’t think I’ve ever had a Peep. I more of a crunch person! My condolences to you on the passing of your aunt.

To readers of my blog, I didn’t post one today, but I’m thinking about what tomorrow’s will be. The humor will be 3 more of the pictures that represents a saying or phrase.
Comment by Don Meyer 04.12.09 @ 8:06 pmFunny marshmallow bunnies! The Seattle Times has a Peeps-use contest too, really funny. The first year, they said the dioramas could be brought in to them, then they just asked for digital photos. Probably had troubles from the physical submissions. I didn’t even buy any this year, though my daughter wanted one set when she saw that they now came in red. Since I was going to be gone I told her she was in charge of getting the candy and she forgot. She dyed me one egg to greet me when I returned Saturday night. It’s almost too pretty to eat.

Here’s the link for the ten winning Seattle Peeps entries–you can actually see all 150 entries if you really want.

MIL loves peeps. I think they make better art than they do food.
Comment by Channon 04.13.09 @ 7:09 amHappy Easter to you, too! No Peeps for us this year, but the day started with a hike in the Grand Canyon and ended at home in bed, so I suppose I can’t complain 🙂
Comment by Jocelyn 04.13.09 @ 5:26 pmI love those Peeps! So nice to see the many views of DC <3 I gotta agree with Channon up there, much better as art than food 😉
Comment by Amy 04.14.09 @ 4:41 amHi Alison, I love that photograph but I am bad at identifying flowers. Rhododendron? No?
Comment by karin 04.14.09 @ 7:48 amHubby wanted azaleas, I wanted rhododendrons. Compromise: I bought azaleas with large flowers.
