She has been too weak to do more than a little reading today. We took her in for IV fluids and anti-nausea drugs. That helps, but is rough on her. She ask me to post her status, which is she feels lousy. The good news is the medicine she has been waiting for is shipped and should arrive tomorrow morning. It is supposed to be very fast acting, which we pray is really the case. The treatment should start tomorrow. Then we get to rebuild her strength. Thanks for all your prayers and good wishes. She does read all the comments, but is too weak to respond at this time.

So you’ll get the drug a mere 5 days after you were supposed to get it? Sigh…
When I had my first shot of Humira, it sent a rush of warmth and relaxation through me. I was quite a drooling, blissful lump for about half an hour – after the initial surprise, it felt really, really good (and no, not really on the drooling). I hope it does the same for you. This is a true miracle drug – remember when it gave me normal bloodwork for the first time in 40 years? Just hang on a little longer, love. I’m sure it’ll make you better quickly.
Hugs to all of you.
Comment by Lene 01.13.09 @ 8:34 amThank you, Richard, for posting the update. You, Alison, your family and friends are in my prayers and my prayer circle at church.
Comment by Linda W 01.13.09 @ 8:36 amI can’t wait to hear you are feeling better, Alison. Thanks to your wonderful husband for telling us how things really are.(crummy) We are rooting for you. All of us are. You are a topic of worried conversation at my dinner table, and I think of you often throughout the day and hope for your quick return to health. Soon, I hope you’ll feel well enough to celebrate with a daily posting again.
Comment by Joanne 01.13.09 @ 8:42 amRich, thank you so much keeping us informed. Knowing that you and her mom are taking care of her makes me feel a little easier. Once the meds arrive she will be on the mend soon. Remind her that she is loved by many.
Comment by sonya 01.13.09 @ 8:44 amSo glad for the update…and Rich, I know how hard this is for you – I went through a traumatic time with my husband so, I know how worried you are…these things are very hard on the whole family but, you’ve all been in my thoughts and prayers and, Alison, we can’t wait to hear about your next knitting adventure!!! Hope you feel much better after even just the first dose! As soon as you feel strong enough, I recommend a pizza – just the way you want it!…and some new fiber – something really nice…like, I don’t know – yak or something! 🙂
You take good care of yourself…and best wishes to you and your family,
Abby
Sending prayers, hugs, and warm healing thoughts to you and your family.

Jeff and I continue to keep you in our prayers. And Rich, I’ll add you to the prayer list too as a caregiver. I understand that role very well. Our best to you both.
Wow. No words can make sense, so I’ll continue to send love and healing vibes toward California.
Big hugs to the whole family, not just Alison.

Comment by Elliott R. 01.13.09 @ 10:16 amI’m sending you a little something, but the person sent it to me by mistake. It’s going right back in the mail today, so hang in there – you’ve got a present coming!
(I’m not above engaging in bribery as motivation to get through this)
Comment by Lene 01.13.09 @ 10:26 amI continue to hold you up before our Heavenly Father. He has promised to hear the prayers of His people. For where 2 or 3 are gathered to gether in His name He will be in the midst. May He continue to give you His everlasting love.

Comment by Eileen 01.13.09 @ 12:20 pmRich, thank you for the update. We are all anxious to hear that Alison is doing better, and I am relieved that the Humira is on its way!
Thank you for taking such great care of this lady who means so much to so many people. Please don’t forget to take care of yourself, as well.
Comment by Meg 01.13.09 @ 12:34 pmImagine a 39 year old Girl Scout singing every silly song in her repetoire (and that’s no mean thing) to cheer you up!
Comment by Catherine mad knitter 01.13.09 @ 12:46 pmRich,
Thank you so much for updating us. I am praying for Alison and you and your whole family. Love, Janet
Comment by Janet 01.13.09 @ 1:30 pmWell, I’ve been quiet because I didn’t know what to say that hasn’t been said before, and I don’t know you in real life. But I work for my church (as in they actually pay me!) and I believe in the healing power of prayer. so if it helps you to know it, there is at least one more person out here praying for you than you may have realized. But I’d like to add you to my thanksgiving list soon. It’s so much shorter than my request list!
Comment by shadylady1216 01.13.09 @ 1:57 pmThanks for letting us all know Richard. We are all thinking about her and worried. It is already “Tomorrow” here. I wish I could swap my tomorrow with yours. I can wait, I don’t need it yet, you can have it. Blessings to you all.
Comment by Vicki 01.13.09 @ 2:02 pmI’m so glad that Mom has come to help. Richard is as always, your Angel with the enormous wingspan. I wish that you did not have to be the trailblazer to get after these insurance companies but Heaven to Betsy, this stuff needs to come out. Things are too big and impersonal and it not for our Swooner to have to pound on the table for her medicine. I want to tell you that I am still sending my love and will shout a big HOO-Rah from the foothills, when I hear that you have weathered another storm.
