Scary, isn’t it! I decided that it wasn’t close because the stores have had their Christmas decorations up for a month.

At least you have until the 25th – Chanukah starts on FRIDAY.

What Margo said.

Have I mentioned that I may have finished my knitting (and my diss crocheting that only you know about) but have bought NOTHING for Chanukah? Have I mentioned that? Maybe I should mention that I have bought NOTHING for Chanukah! Excuse me while I go breath in a paper bag.

You know that there are process knitters, who enjoy the act of creating the garment, and product knitters, who must have it DONE NOW. Our church observes Advent, four Sundays of preparing for the coming of the Christ child. I guess you could say we’re process Christians. 🙂

I’m very fortunate to have one of Santa’s little helpers with me this year. The only presents that are missing in our household are the little helper’s – which I will get some time this weekend.

And if it’s any consolation, Afton, my mother needs a paper bag as well whenever I do the countdown to Christmas. She’s fine as long as there is no perspective on how little time she has left to accomplish all she wants…

We celebrate beginning Dec 21st, so it’s less than 2 weeks away!

Forget about presents! My grandson arrives on Christmas eve. I’ve got to have the basement cleaned up and babyproofed, and a tree set up for him to get into. I remember once when my children were quite young, sitting in a very large church meeting. I was struggling to keep them quiet. Meanwhile, one of the General Authorities of our church stood up and said, “We thank God for the children who bless our homes . . . and for the grandchildren who trash them.” That was when I stopped worrying so much about my kids, because I knew he Understood. So now I’m looking forward to a little trashing. I think we’ll all survive.

That’s seventeen knitting days until Christmas. Um. That’s getting a little close isn’t it? I need to finish a sweater, a pair of mitts, knit two pairs of socks and make a million cookies…what is it they say? A knitter’s reach may exceed her grasp, but her reach is a lot longer if she has 16″ needles?

My internal clock says it’s approximately mid-September. Guess I better get moving!

I know, right?! I’ve informed all of my friends that only the relations I’m seeing over the holidays should expect CHRISTMAS gifts. Everyone else will get some other thinking of you gift.

I am ALMOST finished with the Christmas knitting which was just some wristwarmers. The last pair is on the set of dpn’s (that I lost one of) so is going on two circulars today.

Well, I’m postponing it for three weeks! Ok, ok, just kidding!

Christmas? Channukah? What’s that?

Fun –

Following surgery, a patient awakened to find herself in a room with all the blinds drawn. “Why are all the blinds closed?’ she asked her doctor. “Well”, the surgeon responded, “they’re fighting a huge fire across the street, and we didn’t want you to wake up and think the operation had failed.”

You’re kidding?
really? THIS month??
I’m doomed. No more blog reading (or writing) for me. I have knitting to do.
(I sure hope someone else can take notes at the Board meeting tonight — the Recorder has to knit)

I was at JoAnn’s today…getting some last minute gifts (actually yarn to start just 1 more toddler sweater.) I couldn’t believe it…they have Valentine’s Day stuff out. I did a double take because I just couldn’t believe it.

Can’t we do 1 holiday at a time? Please???

Glad to know that I am not the only one! I keep counting and then contemplating why I am not in the panic my rational mind says I should be!

Comment by Andi in WI 12.08.09 @ 4:07 pm

I swear, this time I am going to start next year’s gifts in January. For real.
