Found this little seedling growing directly underneath my mango tree and went to pull it out. The stem broke away from the roots.
It was a pretty little thing, actually, and I put it in a small flower vase with some water and thought, y’know, every floral arrangement should have one of these in it. I need to keep an eye out for the next one the squirrels plant, and I’m sure there will be many given the young oak growing next door.
Could you bonsai something meant to be big. Hmm.
Two days later, it’s got the beginnings of new roots and new leaves and I’m having visions of surreptitiously planting it by a roadway where there’s a lot of space. Once it gets enough of a root system. If.
Maybe I’ll dig the next one out rather than yank.

Cool! I repotted the one a squirrel planted in one of my Anya pots. I have no room for a full grown one either, but we’ll see how this one does.
