My childhood self is feeling as gleeful as those little kids with their bells yesterday: look what I found! No Christmas is complete without a dose of Snoopy and the Red Baron. I bet one of my siblings can tell me which one of us officially owned that record but we all played it over and over.

One of my faves, too. I’m trying to remember which came first – the song or Schultz’s depiction of Snoopy as a WWI fighter pilot. For some reason, I think the song came first. The lyrics reflect the Christmas Day cessation of hostilities – like soccer games – that took place during the war. Perhaps Schultz liked the song too!

The song was written and recorded before Schultz started depicting Snoopy as a WWI fighter pilot, but wasn’t released until a year after Schultz started depicting Snoopy as a fighter pilot. Initially, no one would release the novelty song.
