Doing all the taking care of’s

I finally finished the 90-stitch hat that has been demanding to stop being possibilities hidden within a ball of yarn this past month.

I watered all the fruit trees–a day early, but so I don’t have to worry about whether I’ll have time to get to it.

I made almond muffins with a spoonful of Nutella in each and really made my sweetie happy.

I took a pound of apricots, split them, melted some butter in a stoneware pan, swirled it around to coat it, poured the rest of the two tablespoons’ worth out into some brown sugar, and then put the apricot halves in the stoneware and a dot of the mixture in the center of each. Forgot the cinnamon. Forgot the bit of almond extract that really adds to that. Because I was running in and out between that and setting the timer for three minutes to move the hose 18 times. Oh well. 350F for 40 minutes to make one of my favorite comfort foods and they are definitely good enough.

They originally told me the surgeon was booked up FAR out, so sorry. Then they called back saying they’d had a cancellation and would next Thursday be alright.

(Did I ask for a cancellation. No, no I did not.)

Thursday it is.

Today was coping mechanisms day.

Sooner rather than later equals less time to worry over things. Sometimes there’s a reason things go quickly, even if we don’t know what it is. He knows.

Yay! and also Ack!

I hope it goes really, really, really well. (and get medication option queries in to whatever doctor knows the hearing/medication question, along with a “this is when the surgery is” urgency flag!)

Fortunately, I bet you’ve already got enough yarn for recovery, and you just made more chocolate, so some of the important things are already taken care of…

Just enough time to get some stuff done to prepare, but short enough to not have to dwell on it. So hoping they can help with acupuncture or other means that won’t affect your hearing. Chocolate and yarn is a good start.

Agree with other commenters that sometimes sooner is better to avoid too much time for worrying.
And you should feel a lot better sooner as a result.
The apricot dish sounds fantastic! Enjoy it.

I’m glad you have your coping mechanisms! It’s nerve-wracking, of course, but then it will be over and on to the next steps. Keep breathing!

Prayers going up from here. Would it be ok to put you on my church Prayer Circle (with no detail and only initials) for the extra prayers?
You have yarn and chocolate, but maybe some reading material lined up?
Blessings on you, hubby, and all the medical staff.
