The space it would go into–peachy fine.
The front door. (Works!) The sliding door behind the kitchen table (definitely a maybe not, zero clearance.) The pocket door into the kitchen from the front if you take it that way (big fat nope!) They would have to go around the kitchen the other way to get in, but as long as I moved the four hundred pounds’ worth between the entryway and there, that would work.
I am not kidding.
I sat down and knitted for an hour and a half.
Okay, enough procrastiknitting, I got up and got it done. Pass the icepacks.
I got yelled at for doing it by myself, but the task broke down into individual pieces that were manageable. (Uh, maybe that wasn’t so bright after all but it felt good to get it done.)
Our 31-year-old fridge has had a hard time keeping things cold enough and it was finally time to let it go. I was not expecting Costco to knock an extra $500 off the sale price at checkout just because they could–I had ignored their Spend and Save ad copy–and the new one is arriving tomorrow.
It wasn’t till after dinner when I walked in the kitchen that I saw it. I would never have thought it, because the old fridge got put in there just fine at the end of the kitchen remodel, and it’s a standard depth and the new one will be counter depth.
But that space between the oven wall and the countertop as you walk into the kitchen? It’s an inch narrower than the smallest dimension of that fridge.
