The photo reminds me of the Berryessa Glory Hole last year (scroll down for photos) when the water in the dam got high enough:
Remind me never to punch a hole through a salt mine cavern. Especially not one with a 1300-acre lake above it.
The miracle is that everybody survived.
Edited to add, Wikipedia has more: 40′ geysers, the disappeared barges that popped back up, the lake going from 10′ deep freshwater to 200′ deep saltwater. Fun times.
