Who told us, before we saw the latest of today’s news releases, that more had been saved from the fire than they had quite dared to hope.

Very sad situation. Fortunately, the copper statues had been removed for cleaning within the past few days. The interior vaulting seemed to help protect some of the items.
A friend said the church bells in Paris were ringing in solidarity. While sad, it must have been beautiful to hear.
