We were up late driving due to our daughter’s travel plans and came home tired.

I’m not good at tired.

The doctor says that, funky shape aside, I probably didn’t break my arm when I fell but to come back and get x-rays if it feels worse. The brain sloshing was the more serious problem. He recommended a ski helmet as being more of a protection than a bike one. (Now, if we could somehow get more padding *inside* that brain, given that my head didn’t actually hit anything…)

All I wanted to know, and I didn’t ask him because it wasn’t something he could answer, was, how soon can I get back into knitting as much as I want when I want so that I can at least still feel useful. I’ll just have to work that out for myself.

Hopefully this will all pass quickly just like the last time.

I’m about to go pick up some good-sized needles and worsted-weight yarn, the easy stuff to work with, and see if I can. At least for a little while. Maybe even an entire cast-on.

Oh Noooooo. Please take care and rest. Get some books on tape; pray for the folks in Texas & Louisiana; pretend you’re on a desert island (in total shade) and forgot your knitting (not likely, but go with me on this one); sit and watch the birds in your yard. Do anything – just don’t hurt yourself anymore!!

p.s. My week is packed … I don’t have time to visit Stanford, so please stay outta there! 🙂

Oh, dear! I’m so sorry to hear this. Take it easy, and feel better soon.

I tell myself, at least she must feel well enough to compose and type if I’m reading about this. But still, so sorry to hear of this setback. And that it involves no knitting. I do hope that phase passes quickly and you are back to feeling yourself soon.

Remember when you were a kid, you had been tucked in and kissed goodnight, story time over, glass of water and all the other delaying tactics sorted out – do you remember maybe calling for Mum or Dad, or maybe sneaking a book into bed and laughing out(too)loud, or maybe having a discussion with a sibling – Remember hearing your Mum or Dad say “don’t make me come up there”. Remember that?

Well, don’t make me come out there with my roll of bubble wrap.

Darn it woman, please take care of yourself.
