Peregrine at the speed of sight

With thanks to Margo Lynn for the heads-up: I have to show you this. I’m just glad the birds’ cameras didn’t catch on anything, especially the goshawk’s while going through those trees Star Wars style. Wow.

I was in the Martin Luther King library in San Jose once when one of the peregrines from the nest across the street suddenly flew down the narrow treeline along the side of the building, so fast I had to blink a moment and question whether I’d even actually seen it–I knew I had, but it had gone by too fast to even begin to make out anything other than the sheared-off vision of speed.

(Oh, and, while we’re at it: a few Eagles. Congratulations to my sister’s sons!)

WOW!!! Just amazing. What a way to start my day. Just to see how slick they move and so fast. I expected to see a collision in the forest. Pat

Congrats all the way around. Nothing wrong with glimpsing nature as fast as one can fly.

Thanks Margo Lynn. I sent that video clip to a few people who will also be amazed!

wow — and wow again!! that video is unbelievable — and those eagles — awesome (my daughter kept after two young men when she was in high school to get their paperwork done for their eagle projects — it was an honor to attend their ceremonies)

oh yeah, there is a song running through my head for your post today too — “up in the air, you junior birdmen!”

That’s such a wonderful family legacy. Congratulations to the new Eagles, and kudos to the whole family of Eagles for their commitment to service and their swooping in to support their fledglings.

A high school sort-of-friend invited me to his Eagle ceremony during our senior year. I went mostly out of curiosity and left with a new appreciation for his commitment to the community and a feeling of honor for having been asked to witness him being recognized for the achievement.
