The news we’d hoped for

Kelli’s and Ellen’s emails gave me the heads-up that I hadn’t told the end of the story.

Natalie was given a colonoscopy in the hospital and we were all worried she would be diagnosed with Crohn’s. Biopsies were taken, cultures started.

The diagnosis, at last, was salmonella. She had a good old-fashioned case of severe food poisoning. Which is awful, but…! Temporary, and now cured. What a relief.

Oh, I am so happy that it was “just” Samonella! My son had it when he was 9 and was in the hospital for 3 days (with me by his side the whole time of course…) awful for him but again a relief it wasn’t something worse. I hope that Natalie has a swift recovery now that she’s been dx’d finally. I feel like I’ve been a part of this whole unfolding scary event, and I’m so relieved for her and her family and friends. You’ve all been so great to her, and it’s wonderful that it wasn’t Crohn’s!!! She’s been on my mind ever since this started with many prayers sent for her recovery. Thanks for the update.

Thank you for “the rest of the story”. Glad it was not a chronic or worse problem than it was.

She won’t forget being ill for a long time, but she’ll remember your kindnesses forever.

Whew. Food poisoning is awful stuff, but it’s temporary.

it’s that “good news bad news” thing — I’m so sorry she was sick, but relieved it was “only” food poisoning — just reminds us that a lot of things are a matter of degree!

Kinda strange when bad news is good news — so to speak. Thank Heaven it wasn’t anything worse.

Oh good! I had this niggling doubt that it was something bad and Natalie was choosing to keep it private. Hurray for “just” food poisoning. And learning what true friends she has.

Very happy to know that Natalie wasn’t diagnosed with Chron’s Disease – but not very happy that she had severe food poisoning. Hope she’s on the mend!!

Good to know – she was still on my heart.

Thank God it’s “all” it was! Saying my thanks for such a speedy and positive outcome.

So glad to hear she’s better!

It’s funny, but I was thinking of my own experience with food poisoning when you told her story–I was in Los Angeles for a conference, staying in a hotel, didn’t know anyone. Got food poisoning. Probably should have gone to the hospital, as I kept getting up to go to the rest room, and waking up on the floor. I survived, obviously (and was pretty sure I knew what the problem was), but it sure wasn’t fun. Natalie is very fortunate to have had people she could call.

Salmonella let me lose 15 pounds in 2 days! Not fun, at all. I am glad she does not have IBS, IBD, Crohn’s, etc.

Salmonella is awful, but in this case – whew!
