My friend Don found himself calling 911 in acute pain last night and is in the hospital. They haven’t pinpointed the cause yet.  He asked that I let my blog readers know.

He’s not at Stanford, rather another local hospital where I used to visit someone frequently and where my lupus support group meetings used to be held, so I know my way around there pretty much–that part shouldn’t be a problem.  I didn’t manage to get there tonight; visiting hours would have been over by the time I could have gotten there, but I hope to tomorrow. After yet another doctor appointment (the staph infection came back again after the antibiotics finished again. Round three.) I have asked and been promised that with the bag over it and much handwashing and Purell-ing, I will not be spewing germs around as I go.  But if any of my medical-profession readers feel otherwise, please let me know, even if I’d wish not to have to hear it.

Oh, and just to rat him out, his 79th birthday is next Tuesday, June 2.

I so hope he’s okay!

I wondered what was keeping him from posting. He better get well soon. I mailed his birthday card and he should get back home in time to receive it! Give him my best wishes for a speedy recovery when you speak with him (as soon as your feeling well enough yourself.)

As a former Nurse I say as long as your Stoma is covered and you are currently on the antibiotics and as you said much handwashing visiting DOn should be fine. Also he would definitely appreciate it!! Give him lots of good wishes and Get well soons from all of us. Also please dont overdo it and make yourself feel even worse 🙂

tell Don to feel better from one Gemini to another (today is my bday – and hubbies is June 10th – so he is in good company)

You feel better too 😀

Don needs a joke or two…surely this group can return the favor…
Here’s the best recession joke I’ve heard yet…

Q. What’s the difference between a pigeon and an investment banker?

A. A pigeon can still make a deposit on a BMW.

Get well Don!

Please let him know he is in my prayers!

Since he is down for the moment I’ll share a little triplet humor in his absence:

Spaghetti

A wealthy man was having an affair with an Italian woman for several years. One night, during one of their rendezvous, she confided in him that she was pregnant. Not wanting to ruin his reputation or his marriage, he paid her a large sum of money, if she would go to Italy to secretly have the child. If she stayed in Italy to raise the child, he would also provide child support until the child turned 18. She agreed, but asked how he would know when the baby was born To keep it discrete, he told her to simply mail him a post card and write “Spaghetti” on the back. He would then arrange for child support payments to begin.
One day, about 9 months later, he came home to his confused wife.
“Honey,” she said. “You received a very strange post card today.”
“Oh, just give it to me and I’ll explain it,” he said.
The wife obeyed and watched as her husband read the card, turned white and fainted. On the card was written: “Spaghetti, Spaghetti, Spaghetti. Two with meatballs, one without.”

Get well soon Don & Happy Birthday!

Prayers for Don.

RECEPTIONIST: Doctor, there’s an invisible man in the waiting room.

DOCTOR: Tell him I can’t see him now.

I am so very bad at telling jokes!

How do you get the elephant into the fridge?
Open door, put elephant in, close door.
How do you get the giraffe into the fridge?
Open door, take elephant out, put giraffe in, close door.
Etc.

All the Best to Don from the other side of the country.

Hope Don is feeling better very soon. Go visit but take it easy. Will pray that he is home before his birthday.
