All shook up

Re the mammogram last week: I told the technician I had one request.

What’s that?

That we don’t have an earthquake while I’m in this thing.

She chuckled, telling me she wasn’t in charge of that one–and then she told me she’d been down south of here when their Big One hit.  A little later, she actually was doing a mammogram on someone when an aftershock hit. She instantly released the woman from the machine, and her patient stood there a few minutes, just shaking.

Then, the technician told me, she put her shirt back on, walked emphatically out that door and never came back!

We laughed as we allowed as how we probably wouldn’t much want to either.

My results came back:  normal. Worth the risk of the earthquake–go get yours done too if you’re due.

Yeah for the good results! Even though I’m in my 30’s I get them yearly. It is more important than I can put into words!

LOL, I hate those, pancake comes to mind :P. You know it had to be a man that invented those because he would never have to be tested with one ;P. I’m glad it came back normal, it’s always a relief. 🙂

I don’t know about that; I can definitively say that there are some things in medicine that are necessary despite the fact that they are not pleasant. I’d take a mammogram over a naso-gastric tube absolutely any day ever. And yet–since that tube was absolutely necessary when I got it, I’m glad I had it.

So, there is a quick-release button on those things?

Well, as a male member of the species, I have absolutely no comment on mammograms. On the other hand, I have had those down-the-nose gadgets far too often, and no thank you. Sure glad results came back normal.
Time for humor:

A trucker came into a truck stop cafe and placed his order.  He said, ‘I want three flat tires, a pair of headlights and a pair of running boards.’
The brand new blonde waitress, not wanting to appear stupid, went to the kitchen and said to the cook, ‘This guy out there just ordered three flat tires, a pair of headlights and a pair of running boards.
What does he think this place is, an auto parts store?’
‘No,’ the cook said. ‘Three flat tires mean three pancakes, a pair of headlights is two eggs sunny side up, and running boards are 2 slices of crisp bacon.
‘Oh, OK!’ said the blonde.  She thought about it for a moment and then spooned
up a bowl of beans and gave it to the customer.
The trucker asked, ‘What are the beans for Blondie?’

She replied, ‘I thought while you were waiting for the flat tires, headlights and running boards, you might as well gas up!’

There is a clerk at the local grocery store who is quite a comedian. He told me a joke that made me think of your friend Don.

A woman has been married for 80 years when she tells her husband she wants a divorce because she’s found another man. In shock, her husband demands, “What’s he got that I haven’t got?”
Says the wife, “He can drive at night.”

Glad yours came back normal. To those who keep putting off having a mammogram, it is important to get a baseline that is normal for future comparison. Also, many states offer free mammograms for women whose insurance may not cover it. Vermont does. It’s called “Women First”.

It’salways good to het “normal” test results especially when the other results can be lifr changing!

I echo her encouragement.
When I lived in Japan, breast cancer killed more women than anything else there, because women were too shy to go in for yearly checkups with their doctors. It really DOES save lives.
In memory of my dear sister-friend, Beth Ann.

I think this qualifies as a heavy-handed hint. I found the form (from last fall’s visit with my general pract.) yesterday, and today, this. I’ll make the call to schedule after lunch.

It is important. I’ll check into it.

Glad you where normal! 🙂

I am glad that all is well and you are in the clear.

Had my six month after the fact checking out or what I call the “what do we have here?” routine. They found NOTHING. NOTHING is so good to not find! After 2 years of always finding something finding NOTHING felt good. We went to Red Lobster to celebrate nothing… Now if I can get through the next 6 month with the same nothing I’m back into the yearly routine that EVERYONE is suppose to do. I want to be like EVERYONE in just this one thing, don’t you?

Ummm…a few years ago, the power to the facility I go to for my mammos went out WHILE I WAS IN THE MACHINE!!!!! The tech thought it would come back on quickly, and it did, but as we continued the test, she assured me there was a way to get a person out of there manually, in an emergency. Phew!

She said it was nothing to do with me, but it’s a real hoot(er) to tell folks my b**bs fried the power to the whole facility. It’s funnier that way, and when in doubt…go for the laugh! 😉
