My friend Kristine, whom some of you may remember from here after this happened and whom I first met when she lived in San Jose before she moved home to Vermont, lived and wrote this in a way that makes the world a better place. Don’t miss it.

A smile goes a long, long way

Fun:
A man was sprawled across three entire seats in a theater. When the usher came by and noticed this, he whispered to the man, “Sorry sir, but you’re only allowed one seat.”

The man groaned but didn’t budge. The usher became impatient.

“Sir,” the usher said, “if you don’t get up from there, I’m going to have to call the manager.”

Again, the man just groaned, which infuriated the usher who turned and marched briskly back up the aisle in search of his manager. In a few moments, both the usher and the manager returned and stood over the man. Together the two of them tried repeatedly to move him, but with no success. Finally, they summoned the police. The cop surveyed the situation briefly.

“All right, buddy. What’s your name?”

“Sam,” the man moaned.

“Where ya from, Sam?” the cop asked.

“The balcony.”

That brought tears to my eyes. I too smile at strangers…smiles brighten many more things than just faces!

Absolutely touching story. I always smile at strangers and hope that it has made an impact some day, to someone. Her story tells me that it has 😉

Good morning Alison – ’tis your local pest – could you kindly email me at above

Thank you for the link, Alison. I needed a reminder that it’s time to “forgive someone who doesn’t necessarily deserve it” as Kristine writes. Now, I just have to do it.

When I took signing classes I learned to sign two songs – “Around and Around and Around Goes the Good Earth” and “Amazing Grace” Both speak to the soul, don’t they?

Thanks Alison, I needed that.
This morning my doc told me I had to cancel my weekend plans (Swine flu, conventions and compromised immune systems shouldn’t mix).
Her post lifted my day.
