Okay, now, this is *FUNNY*!

Suburban Correspondent, it seems, got into a discussion with her husband.  True, I tend to sign my comments on other people’s blogs and appear on my own as AlisonH.  But if you go to this page, there you go.  I am a real person.  I do have a full name.  One connected to a few other writers (hi Dad!); remember this post?  After I wrote it, my niece got married in New York City.  I wasn’t able to go, but Janet Asimov came, and my brother emailed me afterwards to say that if he and I live to be 80, he now knows exactly what I’ll look like, that the family resemblance was very strong.  (I should be so lucky–Janet’s beautiful in the pictures, and I look forward to meeting her.)

Yes, Suburban Correspondent’s husband Larry, I would say I make an occasional foray out into real life.  Anybody out there who can vouch for me on that?

Clapping. I go to church with your sister-in-law and her husband. They certainly seem to think you’re real!

Clap clap clap – I believe!

I’ll gladly vouch for you. You’re one of the most awesome real people I know, too!

You better be real! I made you a tam and you wore the blessed thing!

Afton – off to work. Anyone have any idea where I can find more size 8, 10, and 12 (kid size) coats for my freezing kids? The casinos are laying off their parents from their jobs.

Oh yes, I left a comment there too. You know Larry isn’t his real name… he could be made up for all we know. 😉

You are quite real, even if I did miss my chance to see you in person!

Alison, I’m having belief problems. I know YOU exist. Even if I hadn’t just seen you in Maryland, there is the bit about your sister marrying my cousin, you marrying my college roommates cousin. I’ve met your parents too, and I took a college French class with your brother. My problem is that someone who calls themselves “Suburban Correspondent” sounds ficticious. And even if she does exist, how do we know she really has a husband. I’m afraid I just can’t make myself believe in him.

I hope you weren’t insulted! It’s a long-running joke on my blog that my husband is suspicious of my blogging buddies. He calls all of you my imaginary friends.

Clapping ’til my hands turn pink :-}

It’s such a small world. As I recall, the Asimovs lived in Westfield, NJ (the adoption agency is there that helped us find daughter #2). I believe they, too, had a daughter named Robyn (daughter #3).

DH loved Asimov’s SF; I loved his 2-part commentary on the Bible. And daughter #1? She had a long letter published in his SF magazine when she was in junior high.

I’m pretty sure you’re real or you have one hell of an AI program – it writes great email and comments, it knits (I have proof!) and I’ve even spoken to it. Um, you.

Nevermind. I don’t think I’m helping. 😉

I’m clapping, too — and laughing because other people never quite seem to understand the “realness” of our internet community!

Um…who AREN”T you related too?! My goodness. I’ll have to put up something about my grandparents so I’ll feel less insignificant out here in cyberland!

Oh, hey, Suburban, I thought it was hilarious!

Vouch vouch vouch. I saw her last Thursday, I swear!

Suburban’s post was a riot.

Alison is so very, very real! – Actually one of the most real individuals I have ever been privileged to meet… Mary (who I suppose might also be a figment of Larry’s imagination)

Comment by Mary Seabrook 11.24.08 @ 3:15 pm

Hey, I’ve known you since we were in 7th grade and … come to think of it … this must be a figment of all of our imaginations! Collective hallucinations, that’s it!

You are the best friend I can imagine having! (You are a *real* friend, of that I’m sure!) I guess the internet and computer friends can seem like ‘imaginary friends’ to those who aren’t “in the know”.

I’m glad I know you! Clap, clap, clap, clap…ad infinitum. And I’m *so* glad I got to hang out with you as much as I did. (There *is* an up-side to being unemployed! Who knew?) Give Richard a hug for letting me drag you around Maryland so much!
