Dianne’s Creatively Dyed Yarn is at booth 930, and her daughter is just as nice as she is. Go tell them I said hi. I was wondering if she’d remember me–hah. I walked up, and she dropped everything and exclaimed, “ALISON!” when she saw me, and threw her arms around me. I got her back for it, though, when I opened my bag–and she was wearing a shirt that exactly matched that scarf. She got me back, though, when I tried to pay for some really really gorgeous merino she’d dyed. Fine, be that way–I’ll knit it up and put it in the next knitting book. So there.

People who don’t knit miss out on so much!

Oh, and–we’re four for four (or is it five for five) on the Stitches/wheelchairs saga. We got the silly thing charged okay, and then I couldn’t get it out of the minivan. But I didn’t drop it on my foot this year.

Kevin at Purlescence gave me his cell so I could plead for help if need be tomorrow.

People who don’t know people who are knitters miss out on so much!

Karen at Royale Hare, as she was stroking her new mohair scarf from her yarn, admitted she’d seen it on my blog and wished… Not that she would ever in a million years have told me that. But she was the perfect person for it. And I would never have thought of it if that Silkie hadn’t played hide-and-seek, so that the Fitch Mountain Frost could get a chance to leap out of my bag at me while I was searching for the Silkie.

Speaking of which, Kaci, where were you? Your Silkie’s coming home in a few days. You said at Stitches East that you liked that colorway too. (I figure by the time you might read this, you already know.)

Oh, and–I told a few people that everybody seemed to be sold out of my book. My bad–Lisa Souza has a whole ‘nother case. And Pacific Meadows Alpacas had a few copies left as well. Nina Price will have some too. Phew! I was afraid we were going to have booksignings with no books left!

Alison, I bought your book, and some beautiful yarn, from your husband at Lisa Souza’s. I can’t wait to try out the patters. I feel like it will be a lace year (and some socks too!).
Stitches is my fave. I have to get some of the Creative yarn. I looked and touched, now I have to go back and buy. Best wishes for the show, you are right, people who don’t knit, miss out on so much.

I love the idea of “revenge” being shawls and scarves and yarn flying back and forth. What a wonderful world it would be if all people everywhere would do that sort of thing!

Have a great time at Stitches, Alison. I bet the weather’s a lot nicer there than it is here — big snowstorm just started. I have a five-minute commute to work but hubby has to go an hour and a half.

I have been working on a pretty baby surprise sweater for a former co-worker — she’s due in March. I like the way it looks, but it’s a boucle-ish pompadour acrylic yarn, and has not been much fun to knit. The strands separate and the yarn squeaks on the needles. I plan to do a little hat to go along with the sweater, and THEN I am looking forward to getting my hands in contact with some nice natural fiber again! Not sure what project I’ll tackle, but it may be a good time to have another browse through your book. And if I can’t choose just one — which has been my problem so far — maybe I’ll dredge up another abandoned UFO and contemplate while I finish that.

Have fun feeling up yarn! And tell us about it, so we stay-at-homers can shop vicariously through you. 😉

My shawl for Susan turned out beautifully. Now that the dog is doing better, I’ll try and get a photo done.
Now I’m trying to decide which pattern to use for Courtney. Might as well face it, I’m addicted to knitting your shawls :-}

Ihope you have a perfectly marvelous time. I so wish I could be there, too.

I second the utter awesomeness of “revenge” being knitted gifts. Hee!

I am thisclose to ordering your book, even though I’d never be able to make anything so good in a million years.

I saw a nice stack of your book at Lisa Souza’s booth last night as well as TONS of gorgeous yarn with which one could knit each pattern.

I don’t know if I’ll be able to wave to you from afar and it’s good we weren’t anywhere near each other recently – I had a sore throat at the preview last night but came home shivering – with a temp of 101! But luckily I made a few lovely purchases last night so I can help myself feel better by patting fiber today. 🙂

Have a wonderful time!

Sounds like you had fun. We did too but I didn’t see you 🙁 darn. Did you see the line at Blue Moon Fibers? I couldn’t believe it.

Lu, Lisa will be much amused–that was her husband, not mine. Rachel, get better! Allison, wow, yes, that line was incredible–and the people in it were nevertheless nice to me while I interrupted Debbie a moment there, asking where Kaci was. Ren, the Julia shawl is specifically for beginners: six stitches long, over and over, that’s it, and you can keep it short and tie it in front if you want, it doesn’t have to take long.

I wish everybody could go to Stitches!
