imgp2824.JPGI wrote in my book that some day I was going to have to knit me some kind of a penguin. At the booksigning at Karen’s, Nancy surprised me with an absolutely adorable felted penguin with a handspun scarf that she’d been working like mad on all week. She tells me I have to come up with the perfect name. Any ideas?…

OMG I am struck by the adorableness of that Penguin. Nancy needs to be providing pattern details, that’s all I’m sayin.

PENGUIN.

okay, I’ll calm down now.

She says it’s a Fiber Trends pattern. My husband took one look at it, and said, Well, you *are* running Linux on that computer!

One other thing to mention–Karen’s address is rughut AT mindspring DAHT com and she has copies available for order.

How about Miss Shalet? Congradulations on your book, looking forward to getting my hands on a signed copy soon. Take care and good luck with naming your new found friend.

I would name him Spiffy. Totally lame, I know, but penguins always looks so spiffy to me in their little “tuxedos”. I already acknowledge I am a dork, so you don’t have to say it. 🙂

I think “Spindy” works, as a tribute to your blog name.

Enjoy your penguin and your moments in the authorial spotlight!

Linux? 😉

Olivia said with the beautiful scarf it was a girl penguin.
She says the penguin should be named Ali. Since she belongs to an Alison

‘Wrapper’ – in honour of your book.

I dunno; but can he really carry a tune?

Ok I’m going in a totally geeky direction but my first thought was Pingouin….

Your book is in the mail to me from Amazon… I didn’t think I’d get it so soon as I ordered it in a free-shipping order with Harry Potter 7, but it’s already coming…

I like it! Okay, I went to the French Wikipedia page, trying to make sure that Pingouin wasn’t a mistranslation of penguin, and then being a little rusty in my French, hit the button for translating the page just to be certain the birds described were indeed at least in the same family (yes). I got this page, and just howled. That third paragraph under penguin family life was priceless. http://translate.google.com/translate?hl=en&sl=fr&u=http://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pingouin&sa=X&oi=translate&resnum=1&ct=result&prev=/search%3Fq%3Dpingouin%26hl%3Den%26client%3Dfirefox%26rls%3Dorg.mozilla:en-US:unofficial%26hs%3DJGG%26sa%3DX

I like Comfort – just because I think it would be comforting to have this penguin to hold and pet in times of need and because it goes along with your new book! It could be “comfy” for short

The pattern for Alison’s penguin was Fiber Trends Playful Penguins (FT-230) and your LYS will probably have it. It was lots of fun to do and my hubby said that I needed to make one for myself, too. Now, I’m wondering how to make one of Alison’s shawls for her/him?

That penguin is too cute!!! My brother is quite taken with penguins so I might have to knit one for him. As for names, I thought of two, one for each gender. If your little waddler is a girl, the name Penelope popped into my mind. Don’t ask me why. But then I had a better idea. you see I used to live in the Parley’s Stake in SLC and somehow Parley P. Penguin sounded quite distinguished. What do you think?
