Colors for the win

I kept flipping back and forth between pictures 22 and 23 to be sure: no, the one photo is not an inversion of the other. There really must be two almost-identical spots in that house where you have to climb a ladder to find out what’s on the other side of that door above. Doors. Guys. Would a circular stairway have killed ya?

The grandkids would LOVE having a secret hiding place where the grandparents wouldn’t go!

Wait. Circular staircase. Attic. Yarn stash. Right?

And then there’s #23 and 24 of this place, which I’m linking to not because of the house but because of the quilt shown there but not quite shown enough. There, across the room from the spice rack lamp. Does anybody have any idea what that pattern is called so I can run look it up? I love the colors and if I could see it spread out a little bit more I’d love to knit it. Pick up stitches or intarsia? Panels or all at once? Copy or riff? (Riff, always.)

Given how much I’ve needed inspiration in that direction I’m glad I stumbled across that, even if whatever I make next is totally random from there.

Time to start sketching and trying and thinking about it.

Oh, wow! That quilt! Maybe a variation of a Drunkard’s Path? https://thecraftyquilter.com/2019/02/so-many-options-for-the-drunkards-path-block/ I did a quick search, and there are a lot of pictures out there. It will be a nice challenge! Can’t wait to see what you come up with!

Oh, the colors in that quilt! I have no idea about quilting, but one of my knitting friends is also a quilter, I can ask her, if you like.

It looks as if it might be a Kaffe Fassett design, don’t you think? Maybe check out his quilting books from the library to see? To me it seems to be a quarter circle, with the center of a different color, with an edge to make it a square.

Kaffe was my first thought too. maybe look at his most recent books first.

Colors are definitely Kaffe-like. The quilt pattern makes me think of Strips’n Curves by Louisa L. Smith.

I’d say it’s a wonky variation on a drunkard’s path. Looks like squares are each a quarter circle, but not a strict quarter with the center at a corner. Maybe 2 more larger off center quarter circles out. Like a wonky quarter bullseye. In jewel tones; looks like a lot of batiks in there. Kaffe like in color, but his prints are fairly large scale.

So I googled wonky bullseye quilt pattern and found this:

I want to know how they took a picture of that bathroom without a reflection of the camera or operator. Love their backyard and love the room/study with windows on multiple side. I would stay in that room forever.
