LauraN’s handknit octopus boogie-boarding a witch’s hat across a beanbag pumpkin.

Costumes were never my strong suit.

I just looked. Point two four inches? How was all that rain only .24″? They were predicting twice that.

Not a single trick-or-treater.

That hapless raccoon. Here comes diabetes in a trash can, ready for the raiding.

Did you have treats ready for those who did not appear? I’m sure you can find somewhere to donate them. Someone’s collecting the leftovers at our local elementary school to send to the military, for example. We gave out our less preferred stuff (what we really won’t eat, even when desperate, from the multi-flavor packs) so what we have left isn’t great but it’ll work if we “need” something. Like for going to a play or concert for intermission nibbling. Handy to carry. That kind of thing. Also getting on the needles something I can knit beforehand and during intermission — another pair of booties on needles that could be lost without weeping.

We had decent weather but still only a handful of trick or treaters. Unfortunately, hubby opened two big bags of candy, expecting a big crowd and now it sits in a big bowl, calling my name! I’m hoping my son will take it to work with him on Monday since my willpower is weakening.

We had one trick-or-treater–up from last year! I took many of the leftovers to knitting today (how handy that they keep a candy bowl on the table), but the others will stay here with us. They will have a good home. In my belly.
