About the name of the illness… it would be a shame not to give the discoverer of the illness credit simply because he was unlucky enough to be born with what we consider to be an unfortunate last name. (I wonder what they thought of it in 1797 when he was born.)

I love reading about the doctors who made these discoveries. One of the things I read about Robert James Graves is this. “His kindness, his total want of arrogance and his love of truth made this really great man popular.”

But then I have a huge soft spot in my heart for the doctor who realized that adolescents who faint have the same quality of fatigue as those diagnosed with chronic fatigue.

Wow! I’ve heard of “better the devil you know” and it’s better to know why you’re feeling off-kilter, but at some point you’re just being an overachiever, you know that?

(And of course I now have a vision of a bunch of little devils in kilts doing a kick-line…..)

I believe 2013 has done its best to convince you to say good riddance. and yet, it brought you Hudson, so it wasn’t all bad.

I hope treatment is simple, swift, and effective. And glad that you’ve had Parker and Hudson to keep you company while you waited for the news.

As my endocrinologist told me, if you have to have an autoimmune disease, Graves’ is a good one to have! It’s controllable with medication, and if the meds don’t work, it’s easy to fix the overactive thyroid. I was diagnosed in August 09, and had to kill my thyroid with radioactive iodine in March 2012. I feel just fine, no side effects, even over a year later.

Of all the stuff you have, this is the most minor one, I think!
