There. No question. No real surprise after the bellyaching of the last two weeks.

My gastroenterologist is on sabbatical till the end of the month. Of course. The new nurse I talked to–well, she tried. After I described the problem re diagnosis of blood hitting air and oxidizing, and this morning there being absolutely no question but it was difficult to gauge volume for that reason…she stopped me with, Did you have any rectal bleeding?

Let me explain to her again why I can never have that again in my life.

Let me explain the Crohn’s+lupus thing.

I’ve got a ton of knitting and writing to catch up on.

(Update Wednesday morning: I simply wasn’t home yesterday, with errands that had to be run, so I never did talk to the doctor; the same nurse called back this morning and totally got it. Today is enough better that we’re holding off on the barium x-ray for the moment.)

Sorry you had a flare up. Hope you feel better soon. It sounds like your nurse is related to the TSA agent I encountered once who insisted I empty my pockets because I set off the metal detector. I explained three times I had no pockets but that my artificial hips were metal. But no she kept “wanding” me and insisted I must have pockets somewhere. Oy!

I’m so sorry to hear you’re flaring! What is any gastero doc doing hiring a nurse that doesn’t know basic anatomy? I hope you asked for a back-up gastero, and that when you finally see yours you tell him about your experience — it would be funny if it weren’t so serious!
My thoughts are with you.

Uh oh. Listening is a skill that needs to be practiced. I do hope you see an alternate gastroenterologist soon. Yikes! And, yes, the knitting will help.

Hmmm, your G.I. doctor is on sabat, I would try to get a hold of his personal nurse, (unless she is on vacation too),maybe a word to the head of department to find out someone who could work with you. This is nothing to mess with it as you well know. Take care Alison. You have more patient than I have.

I do hope you keep improving. I’m glad the nurse seems to be interested in learning; she is no doubt encouraged by your patient explanations.
