A breath of fresh yarn

A day of numbers and budget and paperwork and just plain having to be  a grownup.

Oh, and in case anybody other than me is curious, here’s the abstract of the paper on why prednisone doesn’t work on lupus patients like me (with thanks to my daughter Sam for the link).

I took a break, cranked up the music, sat down and knit. For several hours. Watching something new coming to be in my hands in a color not usually my favorite, but because I know how much the person getting it is going to like it, it can be my favorite for just this little while–that familiar happy anticipation was just what the day needed.

I can’t wait till I can wrap it around her shoulders!

The one word that leaped out of this at me, was “methylprednisolone”. Which has been my recent dear croup-kicking companion, and for which I am immensely thankful. Oh look: shiny!!! (Wait, is that ice cream?) Still coming down off the stuff and have zero interest in getting anywhere near a scale. Hang in there, Alison, and I hope you feel much better, very soon.

I tried, but didn’t get it–except that prednisone is not the best treatment. What color is it? I remember making a nice baby blanket for my second grandchild and hating it the whole time because it was YELLOW!
My knitting mentor said it was because yellow was ugly against my hands. LOL.

Well, at least you’ll never have Sissy’s clinically documented ‘roid rage…

don’t you hate those days when you have to do all that paperwork stuff?

can’t wait to see what you’re knitting

Well, I almost understood what that paper said. A good thing that you do.

Ah, you understand that when you’re making something for someone else, it is for their enjoyment, not necessarily yours.

Ah, to be the exception rather than the rule. Failing that – knitting is always good.

I have the “grown-up day” tomorrow, not exactly fond of bill paying and phone calling. You can see the look of happiness of the person you are knitting for in the shawl you are knitting .
