Well balanced (him, anyway)

I was going to do another hour of knitting on this and then show you how it was going to look with the braided cable turned brim-up; I’m delighted that my expectation on the cable/stitch ratio proved right.

But my lack of balance did one of its occasional zings and I’m icing my hand and that’s it for this evening.  I do really like how this hat is coming out.

Meantime, (you can ignore the pajama silliness right at the beginning) Jon Stewart did the best job I have seen anywhere of saying what I think should be said and heard and discussed widely in the aftermath of Saturday.  It is well thought out, kind, and straight from the heart.  I highly recommend it.

But in a way, the pajama silliness made what he said even better. You remembered that this was coming from a man that works on a show that makes light of our political nonsense. I really liked it.

“Sorry, videos are not available in your country.” I’ve been on their board since UK channel More4 has dropped all but the global edition. I see there’s a way to make Firefox think I’m not in the UK (confusing) and hope I can do that OR that JS’s piece appears in next Monday’s global.

Hope icing helps and you’re better soon.

Let’s hope that we continue to react with horror to such brutal acts and that some good things may eventually come out of it all. In 1989, Marc Lepine entered a college in Montreal and massacred 14 women. Stricter gun controls were brought in for our country (this does remain controversial) as well as changes in emergency response protocols, which were credited with minimizing loss of life in a subsequent incident in 2006. There has also been a heightened awareness of violence against women with the day being memorialized each year.
