Shrimp and veggie tales

I was just pulling dinner for three out of the oven when the door opened. (I wasn’t expecting her back for awhile.)  “Mom? Can we have my friend for dinner too?”

“Sure! Here, help me adlib here.” (Opening the fridge and looking for what we could stretch it with.) “Hummus a few bars and we’ll fake it.”

So three became five and the master chef and her friend took over. Sounds of laughing and chop chop chopping came from the kitchen while I knitted happily with my feet up at her invitation, and a superb stir-fry got added to the meal.

I so love having my children around while I can!

That’s one of the perks of having adult kids, they cook for you once in a while!

I agree with Jody, having “older children” is nice not only will they cook on occasion , but will drive you places once in awhile.

Sounds wonderful. I’m listening to the rain on the skylight and thinking I need to start a pot of soup, but the cupboards are … not bare, but seriously lacking.

My daughter’s boyfriend has been staying for dinner at the last minute, and so 2 chicken breasts get divvied into 2/3 or two baked potatoes get divided into 2/3 and an additional frozen veg gets thawed. Poor collie has been missing the leftovers on those days.

Glad you have a helpful cook. My daughter’s boyfriend’s parents got my gal a cookbook for Christmas. I hope to enjoy the results of that gift, too!

I am well aware of the perks of adult children, as you know. Glad that you get to enjoy them occasionally, too. Feet up are nice.
