I got my little “I voted” sticker

And now I’m glued (again) to watching the results come in.

We went over to Johnna and Glenn’s for an election party, Jon Stewart style: everyone kind and courteous and just plain enjoying hanging out with friends, regardless of any party affiliation. Pass the snacks.  Glenn supplied fine chocolate, I brought almond raspberry sponge cake.  (Mom: that would be your hot milk sponge cake recipe from Betty Crocker circa 1952, made with almond extract, 4 tbl butter instead of 2, and with two boxes of raspberries rinsed, very carefully patted dry, and arranged across to sink down to the bottom evenly.  Crunchy organic/Demerara type sugar sprinkled on top of the cake.)

And a good time was had by all.

(Ed. to add, and one political party=one baby hat, knittingwise.)

LOL…having done mu civic duty, I returned to my regularly scheduled Tuesday. Knit Night, followed by a little Dancing With The Stars, unsullied by election returns, as long as I could keep the fellows quiet about it. (mostly un-successful)

I’ll see your almond raspberry sponge cake and raise you a bowl of potato-leek soup. (Life’s uncertain: eat dessert first!)

Sounds like a fun party! The cake…wow!! Looks like our legislature will decide Vermont’s gubernatorial race as no one got more than 50% of the vote.

I voted in my new polling place. I have voted in the same place the last 23 years. I was VERY discombulated and put out that I didn’t know a single person there. But as Judy says “suck it up mom, they will find about you way too soon anyway.”

Yum!

What a fun party – and tasty treats. My sticker and I went home to the dogs… where Sissy proceeded to eat said sticker… Hem.

I voted after work. My dinner was Triscuits and gouda (really good gouda), and some explosive episodes of Mythbusters. We tend to avoid election returns and the punditocracy; no matter who says what, someone in the house will be Annoyed, and it is better to watch things blow up than people.

Looking at the maps today, though, I am of the opinion that the northeast and the west coast are really different countries.

I think Patricia is right — at least the west coast is a different country! (is my visa still good?)

I couldn’t watch the returns all evening long — my blood pressure won’t stand it — I worked on quilts!!

(and I see your firing stuck! yippee — it’s the return of “gov. moonbeam!)

I go to bed far too early to watch any returns, but caught some results around 6 this morning. I see Whitman was right about the polls being wrong — hers!

I voted with hubby when he came home from work, watched some of the returns, have had enough political wanderings for awhile, Here in Wisconsin, we have a new Governor and Senator. Will see what happens. Your Raspberry dessert sounds heavenly, a must try.

I’ve had a wonderful time visiting your blog. I’ve noticed that you are a hand knitting pattern designer. Currently, I’m interested in interviewing knitwear designers for my blog: http://sweatercursed.blogspot.com
Why?
Well, the main character of my paranormal psychological thriller The Sweater Curse is a knitwear designer.
If you are interested, please contact me. leanne@oknitting.com
Thank you,
Leanne

Whatever the results, being with frends makes them easier for all to handle.

I was VERY disappointed that my polling place didn’t have any (or perhaps had run out of) stickers. We get so few rewards for being good citizens!

We went to vote, and for some reason, all the poll workers were under the impression that my boyfriend and I were married. (Guess we give off a vibe?) The really amusing part was how they kept calling him “Mr. Lanafactrix.”
