My understanding is that birds perch on one leg to keep warm. The other foot is tucked up inside a lovely feather comfortor. Of course they only do this when they fee perfectly safe and know that they’re not going to need to do anything in a hurry.

I think Laura is right. I’ve seen my birds do that from time to time. Beautiful photos!
