Summer is now officially over

Northern California as seen through a Marylander’s eyes:

It didn’t come with a massive temper tantrum that rips whole houses off their foundations. No lightning strikes, no massive blasts of thunder, no counting the seconds between to see how many miles away the eye of the storm was and how safe one might hope to be from falling poplar limbs a hundred feet above the house.

Just the sky weeping ever so very gently.

I got one, count’em, one, raindrop on me while going to fetch the paper.

Well, now. Can I stand the excitement.

(p.s. Yes, dessert before dinner. The Crown Mountain batt that Jasmin spun up for me just couldn’t wait any longer.)

Nothing wrong with having dessert first in my world :-}
I think I would miss our Michigan storms.

I lived just north of you for a few years, those were the coldest winters I recall. Not the ambient temperature, but wet cold FEELS colder than snowy cold to me.

It’s been raining in Maryland all week–I’ve forgotten what the sun looks like >,<

Beautiful projects and yarn there! We’re having a lovely sunny, breezy day here, but it’s definitely a fall sky.

Gorgeous colors! That ought to cheer up anyone who got a raindrop on her.

We had the full-on thunderstorm, lightning rippindg and thunder crashing away, making my shepherd-mix dog go crazy and run away. She’s now safe home, sedated and eying the sunshine.

What a beautiful yarn–have fun with it!

I awoke to those big, fat drops hitting the window, but it was so slow I didn’t know what it was at first. And then I heard the distant rumble of thunder. The thought that occurred to me was that some of the storm in northern Mexico had flung a few drops in our direction.

Fun time:

Gallagher opened the morning newspaper and was dumbfounded to read in the obituary column that he had died. He quickly phoned his best friend, Finney. “Did ye see the paper?” asked Gallagher. “They say I died!!” “Yes, I saw it!” replied Finney. “Where are ye callin’ from?”

Here in BC we’re having another blast of the heat, so summer hasn’t completely departed yet. It must have sensed that I was entirely too happy to welcome in the cooler fall weather.

We had almost two weeks of completely gorgeous weather–dry and sunny, cool nights, with just a hint of fall in the air. After that I can’t really complain about the chilly downpour yesterday and today. I sat around all day knitting…a real treat, but clearly I wasn’t going to be doing yard work!

Ha, that is the pleasure of being a grown-up. Have the desert firs and call it appetizer.

I was just crawling into bed around 4am when I saw the lightening and heard the distant thunder. I could hear and smell the rain through the open windows. Alex slept through it all.

Finished the body of my FLS and, like a good girl, posted it to my blog. Wanted more weather so I watched The Perfect Storm today and surprised myself by getting half a sleeve done! Seems that when I put on a movie and knit I spend less time plucking cat hairs off the project because I’m too busy watching the movie. LOL!

The East Coast seen through the eyes of a Nevadian –
Why is it when the ceiling falls in the school I’m in I am the ONLY one that crawls under the table? Didn’t they know it had to be an earthquake? No? Old Buildings lose their drop ceilings from time to time? Never mind!
