Note that that number is virtually all for our alleged electrical use for the past three weeks. Embiggen for the full effect. (After all, they did.)

We’re totally solar.

Over the phone, he recognized who I was from my visit to City Hall.  “I don’t know whether to laugh or cry!”

Oh, hey, sir, laugh–it’s a whole lot more fun.

“Don’t pay that!”

As if!

“I have your account marked so it won’t be hit with any late fees or anything while we straighten this out.”

Uh, yeah.  And toss out that $808 utility user tax hit while you’re at it, ‘mkay? Thanks.

Isn’t it nice when you get to give someone a funny work story to tell for years?

Oh, amen!

It doesn’t say 16,682 what, I think, right? Could someone count that many clippings of grass, say?

OK, I’m laughing. Could also be the fumes. Yesterday I opened my delivery from WEBS (baby alpaca, worsted weight, that had been on sale) and today I went to one of the LYS and got some merino/silk (mirasol Tupa). It’s for warm winter stuff for my brother & SIL and sister & BIL, respectively. Cowls, hats, scarves…. But I get to knit all that softness. I’m thinking about whether I can retire soon. I need more free time.

Wow! And I was worried because our bill crept up about $30 a month over the summer.
Perhaps that’s the amount they owe you, for feeding the grid?

Holy COW
I’m feeling miraculously better about my bill. Alas, my bill is not a mistake.

OUCH!

Wowie! Good thing someone remembered you…

LynnH, in Lansing, MI where it was 62F today, brrr. I wore the alpaca shawl you gifted me with, on the outdoor stage where we sang in the wind at 4pm. Thanks, it was cozy.

Are you giving Lene a break from being the Cat Toy of the Universe? You should create a separate sub-category of “Life” called “Billing.”

Geez, our electric company is trying to raise rates yet again but THAT is a bit beyond what they are trying…:>)…may your good humor get you through this battle with red tape and insanity…

I’m glad you’re laughing and they’re working on getting it straight. That’s crazy!!

Comment by Channon 08.30.09 @ 7:06 am

If that happened to most people, they’d be told that unfortunate as it is, it’s for real. But you, Alison, appear to be charmed in some parts of your life. I hope it’s what they owe you!

Comment by Leslie 08.30.09 @ 8:39 am

…and 88 cents? Is that marked down from 16,684?
Too bad that isn’t what they owe you for what you return to the grid.

Other humor –

Children’s Science Exam Answers.
Q: Name the four seasons.
A: Salt, pepper, mustard and vinegar.
Q: Explain one of the processes by which water can be made safe to drink.
A: Flirtation makes water safe to drink because it removes large pollutants like grit, sand, dead sheep and canoeists.

I, too, feel better about my own bill; dead sheep in the water? As a knitter and spinner, that concept makes me feel sad, very sad! I will remember to flirt on the train tomorrow, if only to protect the Fort Worth water supply.

Comment by Lynn 08.30.09 @ 3:33 pm

Holy Cow!!! That’s more than just a misplaced decimal…
