This came today. Michelle and I both about died laughing.

“Dear” (misspelled my name),

“As the medical director for” (community hospital not covered by my insurance, touting its cancer program), “I am pleased to bring you some important news”…

“You may have been reluctant to schedule a colonoscopy procedure because you have the idea that it’s unpleasant”…

“Take a moment and schedule your colonoscopy today.”

Right. I’ll get right on it.

I believe you could “mail that one in”. Gives a whole new meaning to the term “dry lab”! Heh!

Gee, I had a clever comment line, and Barbara-Kay beat me to it! Well, is it available for them to examine?

Okay, other fun:

A blonde calls her boyfriend and says, “Please come over here and help me. I have a killer jigsaw puzzle, and I can’t figure out how to get started.” Her boyfriend asks, “What is it supposed to be when it’s finished?” The blonde says, “According to the picture on the box, it’s a rooster.” Her boyfriend decides to go over and help with the puzzle. She lets him in and shows him where she has the puzzle spread all over the table. He

studies the pieces for a moment, then looks at the box, then turns to her and says, “First of all, no matter what we do, we’re not going to be able to assemble these pieces into anything resembling a rooster.” He takes her hand and says, “Second, I want you to relax. Let’s have a nice cup of tea, and then.,” he said with a deep sigh………… “let’s put all these Corn Flakes back in the box.”

I’m back again. A colonoscopy procedure is far from comfortable (for those of us who have them occasionally), but what is far more uncomfortable is all that stuff that precedes it!

Ricky Gervais’s humor is built around excruciating social faux pas-imagine if someone telephoned you with that offer? Award-winning comedy there!

It would be so funny if it wasn’t so disconcerting…

I hope you had a good chuckle reading that letter. 🙂

That’s right up there with the call I got for Pop earlier this week. “He’s been dead 13 months.”

Them: “Are you serious?”

(queue the crickets)

I just got back from a week a camp, so I’m catching up. I must say that checking your colon would probably be a whole lot simpler than checking mine, since it would be so much easier to just spread it out on a table for a qucik look. The real issue is that you’re no longer all that interested in what it looks like.

It’s better to get a letter from the medical system that makes you laugh, than one that makes you angry or desperate. I’m glad you got a chuckle… laughing is such good medicine.

Just the same, I think that the process you went through is more than a tad more uncomfortable than a colonoscopy.

Sigh.

Comment by LynnH 07.11.09 @ 9:40 am

Gosh………..if they only knew what you’ve been through.
