Alison’s status

To use her own words, “I don’t feel very good.”. Last night we had a scare when her fever spiked up to 104.3F. We got it back down, but they did not like that. Today was labs, CT scan, x-rays, and consultations. She is getting 4 liters of fluids as we have failed to bully her into drinking enough. We are waiting on the medicine to let her body heal.

To those who wonder, I did the original post while at Urgent Care waiting on the IVs to drain into her as she dozed.  She has asked me to post when she could not, and she was not at all up to it today.  I showed the post to her, but I am not sure she really could read it.   Mobile devices can make your life easier sometimes, and posting the status gave me something to do the 6 hrs we were there.  I also introduced my mother-in-law to the joys of an iTouch by letting her watch “The Curse of the Were Rabbit” while Alison slept.  Gotta love Wallace and Grommit.  Besides Grommit Knits.

(So sorry about the misprint up there. I meant to sat “she is”.)

Thank you for the update, Richard. I am so touched that in the midst of all of this, you take the time to post. She is, of course, in my prayers and my prayer circle. I am knitting socks inspired by Julia’s shawl. Every stitch is a prayer.

Thank you Richard for taking time out to keep us updated during this super stressful time. I am praying for you and Mom and family too. Alison’s body has a big job of healing and hitting a healthy balance between its manic immunity drive and the Humira trying to calm it down.

Drink your water Alison!!!

Love & Gentle Hugs,
Gretchen

Karin, you should have said across “MANY continents”!

I hope that wait for the medicine to kick in isn’t much longer and the healing begins very, very soon.

“Because Grommit Knits.” Are trying to make me cry?

We love you Alison. Drink your water. Get better. It’s okay to be bullied by people that love you. Honest.

Comment by afton 01.16.09 @ 4:54 am

Richard, I can’t wait to hear that Alison is well enough to laugh at Wallace and Gromit’s adventure in “A Matter of Loaf and Death” where they become bakers and encounter a “cereal” killer.

Comment by LynnM 01.16.09 @ 4:54 am

Thank you so much for the update. We’re keeping you in our prayers daily. Thank the Lord for your family!

Comment by Toni Smoky-Mountains 01.16.09 @ 6:19 am

Richard, what can we do to help YOU through this surreal experience where time stands still…but yet it doesn’t??? We are all here for both you and Alison(and all other assorted relatives!).

Healing vibes…healing vibes…healing vibes…knitting needles soothingly clacking away…

Comment by Betsy 01.16.09 @ 6:20 am

Thanks for the update on the update.
You are a trooper.
And I saw that electronic device of yours when I met you in Burlington. 🙂

Hope she’s better this morning.

At least she doesn’t have to contend with -12 degrees F like us…trying to stay warm on top of trying to stay upright would be brutal.

Prayers continue.

Comment by karin 01.16.09 @ 6:29 am

I was so worried when I read of the fever, and I hate to say that I was worried about just this happening. Dang, dang, dang (language cleaned up on that one).

My 6y.o. son said to tell you that he’s praying for you, too, and we made sure to pray extra hard last night. All these prayers, good vibes, and love are wending their way and helping you fight that fever.

You are well loved. Keep fighting.

Bless you, Richard. Your posts keep us from worrying more. Prayers continue…

Thank you for the update. Alison and family, I send you more prayers and wishes for recovery as soon as possible. You all have been through so much. Please hang in there and draw on each other’s strength and love. Words are inadequate but heartfelt.

Richard, boring sure beats terrifying. I’m glad Alison could doze while the IV pumped in the fluids. I’m glad you could watch a movie instead of spending the entire time in frantic worry. Hold on. I hope things will settle down soon and Alison can really start to heal.

Comment by Toni 01.16.09 @ 8:40 am

Thank you for posting Richard. ::gentle hugs:: and healing thoughts out to the two of you.

Comment by Alicia 01.16.09 @ 8:54 am

I was just dialing down the worry meter, but it’s ramped uo again.

Please drink. Try hot water with a small slice (like a quarter of a pretty thin slice) of lemon – it’s refreshing and the lemon works on the homeopathic principle and soothes the stomach. Might work?

Thinking of you. Sending light.

Comment by Lene 01.16.09 @ 9:28 am

Thank you Richard for the update. I continue to pray for Alison, you and your entire family. I have great faith that Alison will get well soon. You are her rock and being there for her is the greatest healing gift you can give her. God Bless all of you. Hugs to all of you. Bonnie

Richard – I’m close enough if there is actually anything practical you need done, my email is in the post, please let me know. In the mean time thank you so much for being with her and please deliver a kind thought and a hug from me, as she is not currently able to take them from the screen.

Thanks, Richard for keeping us updated when Alison can’t. Thanks, too, to you and Mom for being there to help her through this rough patch. She’s going to have that perfect 300 game soon!!! Is it time for chicken soup? Certainly would taste better than that barium stuff.
Hugs, prayers and love,
Nancy

Thank you, Richard, for the news. Even if it isn’t what we hoped to hear, it’s much better than not hearing. Our prayers continue to be with all of you.

Comment by Kit 01.16.09 @ 2:16 pm

Dear Rich, Alison and I had emails not that long ago marveling that we both had such wonderful husbands. I knew it then, and I know it now, even though I’ve never actually met you – you are an amazing man. Thank you.

Comment by Linda W 01.16.09 @ 2:28 pm

Thank you for the updates. I appreciate it, and will continue to say prayers.

Love to you…
