Alison’s recovery

Filed under: Crohn's flare

Well we are off, on the road to recovery.  She is trying hard to be good, and really likes that nice green pain button.  Everything is looking good, as the Drs. see it.  The surgeon say everything else looked healthy when she looked around.  Alison has been able to sit up and walk a short way.  She sat in a chair for twice as long as they required and has taken two very short walks.  Her BP is a bit low, even for her, so she hasn’t been pushed much.  The only excitement has been the O2 sensor that makes quite a racket if her breathing gets too shallow.  I put the laptop on her bed and she read all of the comments.

Hey Alison,
I am so glad to hear you are doing better. Everyday I hold my breath to see what your blog says, and I can breathe a sigh of relief now. You know, your up and downs are more closely followed than the stock market!
Love, Gigi

I am so glad :-}
The Big Foot shawl progresses well.
I like thinking about your book, and the literally thousands of people it has touched.
I am greatly looking forward to your next book, when you finish it.
I know you will :-}

Thoughts and prayers for you.

My Heavens! After all those uplifting comments, is there anything left for me to say? Well, Hallelujah! Another miracle — the miracle of healing. And the joke for the day is:

Doctors opinions on the bailout plan–
The Allergists voted to scratch it, and the Dermatologists advised Congress not to make any rash moves.

The Gastroenterologists had sort of a gut feeling about it, but the Neurologists thought the administration had a lot of nerve, and the Obstetricians felt they were all laboring under a misconception.

The Ophthalmologists considered the idea short-sighted; the Pathologists yelled, “Over my dead body,” while the Pediatricians said, “Oh grow up!”

The Psychiatrists thought the whole idea was crazy,

the Radiologists could see right through it, and the Surgeons decided to wash their hands of the whole thing.

The Internists thought it was a bitter pill to swallow, and the Plastic Surgeons said, “This puts a whole new face on the matter.”

The Podiatrists thought it was a step forward, but the Urologists felt the scheme wouldn’t hold water.

The Anesthesiologists thought the whole idea was a gas, and the Cardiologists didn’t have the heart to say no.

Alison,
I think I mentioned to you once that if you lived closer I’d adopt you as our surrogate mom/grandmother. “Watching” you go through this is definitely hitting some buttons for me. If only an entire country didn’t separate us–I’d come visit you and sit by your bed with my knitting, like I did with my mom. Except you, my dear, are going to pull through. Sending you loads of love.

Hip, hip, hurray! So glad to hear that you’re on the road to recovery! Keep up with that moving…those nasty gas pains can be worse than the surgery pain if you don’t walk around enough.
Blessings,
Lisa

Hey Alison,
Maybe you can conjure up some designs while you’re on those meds. You might see things differently than when not on them. It’s good to hear you moving around. I wish you a great day and a better night!

Not even going to read all the comments ahead of mine, because — Sitting? Walking? So soon after surgery? Hooray and Praise the Lord!

Many, many prayers and good wishes flowing your way. We love you, Alison; hugs to Alison’s Mom; and thank you, Richard, for the updates.

I’ve been praying that you would come through this and my prayers are answered. I’ve been a fan and a lurker for a while and your strength through so much has been an inspiration. May God grant you a speedy, relatively pain free recovery.

I’m back from my weekend away, where I had no internet access. My husband texted me the Alison was OK, but that was all I had time for. But I preayed a lot for you, Alison, and sent lots of healing thoughts.

Thank God. Recovery is happening.
