Eye dunno about that

I was in the middle of working onWanda\'s Flowers shawl a post, and I’ll get back to it, and I’m throwing a gratuitous photo into this one of a Wanda’s Flowers shawl from “Wrapped in Comfort” because ’tis the season and it’s a really great book and I need people to buy lots of copies and you’ll love the stories and the shawls in it if you do, etc etc…

But I just had to laugh: the editor of Wired magazine spoke to a Silicon Valley group yesterday and talked about some of the latest and greatest high-tech stuff, and one item thrown out there had no context given to it–just the idea of it was apparently expected to excite the audience into thinking, oooh, cool!

And I just have to ask: who thought of this. Who would buy this.  WHY?  An electric mascara applicator.

To paint eyelashes on your VW Bug to make it cuter, or what?

I’d end up looking like Malcolm McDowell in Clockwork Orange if that applicator ever made it’s way into my hands!

Wrapped in Comfort is a great book, I should know since I have my own copy (which I hope to get signed at Stitches West).

As they used to say on TV in the 50’s “it would make a great gift!”

I’ve loved my copy, and keep nagging for Alison to write the next volume.

It appears that the author of this stellar blog is not the sort who needs waaay thick mascara, not clumpy. But then I’m not either. I rather doubt we’re the Manolo Blahnik crowd. More the wrapped in comfort sort. Wouldn’t you agree?

Can’t wear anything make-up-ish around my eyes anymore, but I’m pretty sure if I could I wouldn’t want an electric brush on my eyelashes.

And I too love Wrapped in Comfort and am eagerly, but not so patiently waiting for the next one.

Sounds like a faster way to poke myself in the eye?

I know what you mean—I saw that mascara doo-dad on a tv commercial and I laughed like heck. (Next there will be electric zit-poppers…) Now if only they’d invent electric laundry-folders. By the way I love your gorgeous shawl.

Someone should have told him that Tammy Faye Baker passed away. She’s the only I know of who would have wanted an electric mascara thingy!!!

Yes, love your book. The fact that you have signed it makes it that much more special.

Um, we’re a crazy, lazy society?? Or is it shock value? Something wayout? I so love handmade.

LOL I love geeks (including myself among them) Oscar loves most of the gifts I find for him at thinkgeek.com :-} Not the walking alarm clock though, that’s too cruel.

I tell everyone to buy your book. It’s my favorite shawl pattern book, and I often get it out to look at again for ideas. After the swirly shawl thingy I started this weekend, I’m going to do one from your book. If only I could decide which one . . .

Yes. To apply it to the car is the ONLY use I could think of.

Thanks for signing my copy! And…you do have another coming out, no? 🙂

LOL!!! Certainly not for me. I have almost poked my own eyes out with regular mascara brushes. Why would I need to accelerate that process? :0)
