Kaleidoscope Yarns

Yesterday was the signing at Kaleidoscope Yarns in Essex Junction; I’ll add pictures in here when I get home.  My fellow bloggers came: Karin drove all the way from Albany, NY; Paula came from Massachusetts; Amanda and her husband and son and then Sue, who sometimes sends me New Hampshire pictures since we used to live there, came from New Hampshire; Joyce was missed; Kristine and Joan came from closer by, and my mind is being terribly ungracious and blanking on someone–I’m sorry!  Jill hosted us with warm smiles and homemade bread and cookies.  Books were signed, stories were swapped, and a great time was had by all.  I would add links if I knew how to open a second window on my daughter’s Mac.

It’s humbling in the extreme to have people–old online friends, to be sure, but still–take that kind of driving time and make that kind of effort to come to let us meet each other in person. I hope I lived up to their expectations, while feeling like, no, I really can’t do anything as wonderful at all as they did by comparison; but I am so, so grateful they did.  Thank you everybody, and thank you, Jill.

Off to tour the Ben and Jerry’s plant in a few minutes…

You were utterly worth it, you wonderful, silly lady! I was quite pleased with how well Lucy warmed up to you; she’s shyer than people are giving her credit for right now, but she grabbed her little fish this morning, and was so pleased to have it, I can’t even tell you!

Enjoy Ben & Jerry’s, and have a safe trip home.

You must come back again soon! It was so much fun spending time with you yesterday at Kaleidescope. To be able to see all your wonderful shawls and your coat was so awesome!

We just got home from Vermont a little while ago. Everything happens for a reason, Alison, and so you were a catalyst that got us thinking about re-uniting with our old friends. It was a wonderful visit with them, and we’re going to make sure we never let another twenty years go by before we see one another again.

I really think “good magic” happens wherever you are involved. Look how many people you brought together yesterday! I so wished I could have stayed until closing time, because it was so very peaceful and pleasant sitting there with all of you and talking about our knitting and our lives. I really do feel like we had our own little corner of heaven on earth yesterday, and I feel so honored to have met you in person.

I’ll be there again, if at all possible, when ypou come back to sign that second book, which I’m waiting for with bated breath. Love you! Have a safe trip home.

What Paula said. Oh it was worth every single mile and minute that I drove up there. The atmosphere in that wool room was so wonderful and warm (literally and figuratively!). Jill did an amazing job at the shop.

I really did wish this morning when I woke up that I would just be up able to go see you again.

Also it was so nice to meet everyone. Love that baby.

Post on my blog soon!

You got to tour the Ben and Jerry’s plant? Be still, my heart!

So when are you coming to Dallas or FW?

My take on it is this, Alison. If a person visits with you, she just never can tell when something remarkable might happen. A person could just be sitting in a yarn shop, eating dark Hershey’s Kisses, and chatting when suddenly someone could ask to try on your K Fasset coat. And there would be Tina, wearing the perfect color for her, twirling and smiling. Demonstrating for all of us the value of intarsia, among other things. A magical moment that we couldn’t have anticipated ahead of time. Always worth taking a chance on, I say.

Do you think you will have a book signing in Cedar Rapids, IA? I haven’t purchased the book yet, but it is on my list. I move to Cedar Rapids, this week end coming up and as soon as I am settled and working again, I do plan to buy the book, I love shawls, the title says it all, they are comfort.

How I wish I could have been there! You paint such wonderful pictures with your words that I can almost imagine it for real. Next time, for sure!
