For a gray-ter good

The first few rows, I was working on this to get it done and out of the way of the other, brighter yarns waiting next to me. But the more the pattern emerged, the more beautiful it became to me in its own right, and the more perfect it has felt for the recipient as I’ve been watching it coming to be.

This will be a quiet shawl.  It’s not flashy.  It doesn’t demand attention.  It doesn’t put itself first.  It plays well with all other colors that the recipient likes, as far as I know, and as I’ve been knitting it, I’ve been remembering the real reason I picked the yarn up in the first place: this is seriously nice stuff.  It offers warmth and and a superb softness for a woman who has touched many lives for good. I can’t wait to give it to her, even if that means I have to stop knitting it at that point.

gray-vy, man

There is an appeal to a “quiet” yarn on occasion. I’m in a Ravelry group that is knitting a year of solid color socks. They’ve had enough of fancy-smancy yarn, and are going for knitting details.

Yes. This world needs solid, dependable people – and yarns.

Quiet is good and often can be worn with way more than something that is very colorful but I can see how thouse Lisa Sousa yarns are screaming to be knit. They are gorgeous!

I like the look of the grey. And Grey is the new black, or some such thing. It should look very classy on the wearer.

You’ve expressed my feelings exactly when you say you hate to stop knitting it. It’s like finishing a good book: I read very s-l-o-w-l-y toward the end.

The gray you are using for the shawl is lovely!The person receiving it will be truly blessed.

Oma is grandma in German :-}

I tutored German before I went to Japan (had good grammar, little vocabulary} Sometimes, at a few decades distance, I guess I get the languages confused :-} Wie Geht o-genki desu ka?

it is beautiful!!! As I have said once or twice before – what’s not to love about grey or black — your recipient will love it and wear it every chance she can

Quiet can be calming!!! It’s like black and white photography versus color…black and white forces you to focus on the subject and there are not distractions.
