“Wrapped In Comfort” cover

Amazon has had my book listed for pre-order for awhile, but with the wrong cover. Here is what it’s really going to look like come June 11. Being the author, and not having been there during the photography, I find I want to step into the picture and tug that bottom edge just a tad, you know, adjust it to hang just a little more loosely on the neck…

Enough of that. I think this one captures the spirit of the book much better. The model has a lovely smile, and I was so glad when I saw this shot. Well done, Martingale!

Wow, that is a beautiful cover. I would be smiling if I was wearing that shawl, too!

I wish lace was not so intimidating to me. The shawl on the cover is enougth to make me want to try. I’m assuming I will be able to find at Barne’s & Noble?

Congrats…

Eeeee! It’s getting more and more exciting!

Thank you! That is a simple pattern, and there is an even simpler one, excellent for showing off a handpaint yarn and easy for beginners: the whole thing is a six-stitch-long lace repeat.

And yes, the book will be available with any bookseller that carries knitting titles.

I agree with you so much about the smile. Even in Interweave, it seems like a lot of the models have decided they need to look aloof. Taken to the extreme you end up with the alien-zombie look so prevalent in Vogue or Rowan. That is a great cover.

Oh how exciting, the actual cover! I cannot wait to see this book!

Congratulations! I can’t wait to read the whole book when it comes out.

It is a wonderful photo. I just can’t wait to see all of it!
If I mail the copy I get to you, will you sign it for me??

I just looked at the other cover and the right one is so much more inviting. The model’s smiling face makes us want to knit lace from the book.

Ditto what sonya said. I like the combination of colors on this cover much better. And the view out the window looks like it could have been taken near your parents house. Yay! 🙂

Isn’t this like birthing a baby? You KNOW it is going to get here soon, but you haven’t really met it yet, or seen what impact it will have on the world. Wa-Hoo!

Lovely, Alison! I simply cannot wait for this book. I think I had better start adding to my stash in preparation.

I wish I could understand the English (or American) “knitting codes”, but I don’t. I absolutely loved knitting as a teenager/young mother, but I haven’t touched a pair of needles since Elina was a baby about eight years ago. Anyways, I absolutely love your blog. It gives me happiness shots!

Monica, if it helps any, whenever you might get back to knitting, the patterns come in both written-out form and in charts, and there’s a glossary of terms for the written-out versions. And everybody–thank you so much!

It looks great Alison and I for one can hardly wait until it comes out. I need some more semicircular shawl patterns, and will be buying your book as soon as I find a copy. Congratulations!

Hey that’s the one I wore for the Yarn Harlot event at Stash! http://fiberdev.blogspot.com/2005/08/yarn-harlot-berkeley.html

Yes! When Stephanie was to speak in Berkeley, Jocelyn and Cris and I decided to drive up together, and on impulse, heading out the door, I threw several shawls in my bag. Good thing; the air conditioning was cranked up high, and those two were freezing. Well, hey. I could fix that.

I’d forgotten that, thank you, Jocelyn!

I so love the idea of a knitting book entitled Wrapped in Comfort. And the cover looks so beautiful!

Re Sonya’s question, I need to talk to some of my LYSOs. I can sign books that they can then mail them to you, if they’re willing to do a set-up like that. Shouldn’t be a problem.

It’s a beautiful cover, and I can’t wait to see what’s inside. Can you share any more photos?

There’s one shawl, simple to knit, that I gave in two sizes to help make it adaptable to lots of different yarns. I knitted the small version with a strand of Kidsilk Haze and one of Alpaca With a Twist’s Fino, together, for Sandi; there’s a picture several entries ago. (I wanted to use yarns specifically from her shop for it, and she was fresh out of cashmere in the right weight at the time. I owed her, bigtime.)

That’s thicker than the fingering yarns I mostly used in the book, so it came out quite large for a small person, but Sandi loved it–and it gives you an idea, meantime.
